Re: Pearly Gates in bridge...sounds kinda...thin

thanks everyone for the replies

after looking around at more pickups, i'm kinda stuck between either the PG+ or the 59 4con. for the bridge. (i plan on doing jimmy page wiring later on, with all 4 push/pull pots :D)

for the PG+, i read that the spacing was made to fit strats. how would that fit in a les paul? i assume the spacing wouldn't be so different that the humbucker wouldn't "work" anymore but what would be the result of putting a strat-spaced PG+ in a les paul?

both have alnico 5 magnets.

i'm perfectly fine with the 59b, but i always thought it was a bad idea to have the same pickup in neck and bridge. i know there's nothing actually wrong with doing that (it's hard to explain. i'm just weird), but I figure that they'd sound...too similar..or something...yea

which of the two (or other pickups) would best offer the beano lead tone?

thanks again to everyone for putting up with me

The 59n is underwound about 1K compared to the 59b. The 59b is just like a 59 Gibson paf...the 59n is different in that it is underwound and lower in output.

If you had a '59 Les Paul or 335 it would have had two humbuckers wound like the 59b.

Just get the '59b. Or, you could order Custom Shop Jimmy Page buckers, they are a tad hotter than '59s, more meatier.
