What kind of music? PG's are a PAF type, and Duncan has a number of great PAF's. I've had most Duncan PAF's and some from other manufacturers. What stands out to me in my LP's, is that PGN's are pretty warm and rounded on the high-end, which contrasts with PGB's being brighter than expected. Some players like a big difference in EQ between bridge and neck, and PG's would be a great set for them. I don't like big EQ differences, and prefer Seth's and A2P's. BTW, all three of these have A2 magnets.

My buddy Jack Hadley has my PRS with the nickel covered PG pickups at the moment. Jack's a terrific guitarist and vocalist...won the Colorado Blues Challenge and is going to Memphis next to compete in the International Blues challenge as Colorado's entry. Anyways, I loaned him my guitar for awhile and he's loving it. I was surprised at the warm tone Jack gets out of it. Even warmer and smoother than when I play it. The PG's have never struck me as having the "bright" or "sizzley" tone so many attribute to them. I think it very much depends upon the player.

Yes, the player obviously a big factor but, IME, in this specific case, that elusive "sizzle" gets lost when you set the p'ups up "too close" to the strings. And the difference might lie within half a turn of the screw.

I have a Patriot Custom and I was actually surprised by how good the Rockfields were. I did change the bridge pup in mine for a Rio BBQ, but left the stock neck pup in it. Just took off the cover to match the bridge in looks. Then spent hours trying to clean off the wax... anywhoo..
PGs are quite popular in single cut guitars, so I imagine it would sound good, depending on your amp.. Would it sound good? most likely.. But you have to ask yourself, what is the stock pup lacking in your opinion? If you can pinpoint what it is lacking and feel the PG would fill that void, then give it a whirl...
