Peavey 6505 112 worth it?

I'm on the prowl for a tube combo amp that I can take from place to place. I'm a Van Halen tone freak, so I thought, "why not a cheaper version of a 5150?" So I looked at a 6505, and the reviews looked pretty unappealing. From "UBBER METAL DUDDDDEEE AYEAWWWW!!!", to "METALCORRRE MOTHER F$%^#$!!!!". Yeah, I love my Slayer, but I want an amp that does not do over the top metal, with a good clean channel. I can't believe EVH used an amp like this. So i've been looking at a Peavey Valveking 112 and a Marshall Haze 40w. I listen to some reviews on youtube, and I must say, the clean/blues channel on the Haze sounds better than sex. What do you guys think?

Had the 6505 it was decent after a tube change and speaker change, put a Eminence Swamp thang in there. Was a improvement right away, took the high end brittleness out. Haze was not bad i didnt care for the speaker, cleans were great and the effects were nice. My jet city sounds more marshall/vox over the haze's OD channel but no cleans. I have my Boogie for heavy and clean stuff.

it has that clear clean high end chime the haze didnt have, haze it pretty bright with the stock speaker my only grip. I might change it though

I almost got one till I traded gear in towards the 5150 III 50 watt.

For $599, the Peavey's a very nice amp. Great for Metal, turn the gain down, get some classic rock tones. For the price I think it's definately worth it.

My complaint and why I didn't get it is I hate 1x12 combos that are almost as big as 2x12's. It's not a tone thing, but I was looking to get an amp the size of a Mesa 1x12 combo, and the 6505 was just too big
