peavey 6505

i know that that 6505 is a reproduction of the 5150 but is it more like the latest line to come out before he left or more like the original block 5150 which was said to be the better sounding version? id like to know whether i should buy a new 6505 or shop on ebay for an old block 5150

Re: peavey 6505

The 6505 is the same exact amp as the 5150 except the front says '6505' not '5150'. Same thing. I haven't played a 6505 yet, but i have played a few 5150 II's. I would assume the only thing different is that name, but I don't know. Someone that has played both should probably chime in sometime.

The early block logo 5150's are exactly the same as the later ones, according to Peavey customer service.

According to Peavey, yes, but

according to many users, the EVH Block head is better than the EVH Script head.

Re: peavey 6505

Theres a 5150 and the 5150II, which are now the 6505 and 6505II

shouldent be hard to work out, their the exact same specs, the 5150/6505 is said to be better sounding than the newer version the 5150II/6505II

The circuitry is 100% identical in both amps, it's simply a cosmetic change. I think people just hear what they want to sometimes, especially when it comes to stuff associated with EVH.

Re: peavey 6505

The name stands for 1965 The year Peavey started and 2005....Eddie has a copyright to the name 5150.

Identical amps so I have heard.

Re: peavey 6505

FYI, no matter what anyone says, the block and script logo 5150's are identical in every way, shape and form except for the logo. I've had both and the boards, transformers everything are identical.

The 6505 plus is the 5150 II and the regular 6505 is the standard 5 pre-amp tube model.
They were smart in contuning the amp. Have you guys noticed that like every newer metal band is playing through 5150's. Weird huh? Just when I stopped using mine ehehehe.

I have the 5150.... but in the future i'd like the 6505II as a replacement and save my original head
