Peavey Bandit into 4x12?

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has used a peavey bandit or similar solid state amp into another cab.
I find the bandits bass response pretty crappy at meduim/high to higher levels. It just freakin farts itself out. And the louder you crank it the tinnier it gets too! Would this be fixed if I used the speaker out into a 2x12 or 4x12??? Does this 80watt solid stater have the guts for it?

Just asking cuz I'm after a GT-8 this Christmas, and want to rig up something cheap but decent to run it through while I save a bit more for the perfect stack ...

I have plugged solitd state combo amps into cabinets before, it will help somewhat, but it will never cure the problem that it's a solid state amp.

Just looking to improve my setup at home somehow. I use a 5150 for gigs, so I know not to expect much from the bandit!
