Clean channel is beautiful and takes all types of pedals like a dream. Woody, punchy, nice all around midrange. Handles high gain (and low) incredibly via pedals. Add a treble booster for some real nice chime. Gets LOUD and stays clean all the way up. Keeps up with a drummer just fine. If I could really crank it, Id keep it. But, apartment life prohibits me from taking full advantage of this amp. I am currently bandless and could use the extra space.
Has Sovtek preamp tubes. All are well used, but have PLENTY of life. JJs were new right before I received the amp.
The amp has only left my apartment <10 times, each time with care. I take very good care of my gear. There is really nothing cosmetic worth noting, other than the hideous "Peavey" logo is missing, and the "Classic 30" nameplate is a little scratched.
The drive channel's PRE and POST pots are a little scratchy, but set and forget. Besides, I used this amp for its clean channel
and Im sure most people reading this are thinking the same. The reverb has to be turned all the way down when you turn the amp off, otherwise youll get a little "pop" when the amp is shutting down. Nothing major, just thought Id mention.
