Peavey Delta Blues...

I went to a music store today to compare the Peavey Classic 30 and the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. I liked the Classic 30 a lot more, more personality IMO and the overdrive was better, again IMO. I eventually sat down at a Peavey Delta Blues 210. I was really blown away by this amp too. So now my amp choice is between a c30 and a db. My questions regarding these amps are:

1. Is the Peavey Delta Blues just a Classic 30 with a tremolo added?
2. How much different will the 115 sound than the 210?

I cannot answer your questions, but I too was VERY impressed with the DB I played a couple weeks ago.

My only "issue" was it sounded a bit "dark"...did you notice the same thing?

If by dark you mean bassy, then I kind of did. But with some tweaking I got it fixed pretty much.

I've never played through the Delta Blues but there's a blues guitarist here in town who plays with Hazel Miller who uses one and he gets a great sound out of it. I was very impressed with the sound of that amp onstage. His is the one 15" speaker version. Everytime I've heard him I've thought that was agreat sounding amp. Lew

If by dark you mean bassy, then I kind of did. But with some tweaking I got it fixed pretty much.

Actually, I meant like..lacking high frequencies...like it needed a bright input/iswitch or more presence. On the boost setting that is.

I woulda bought in then and there if it had some more presence.

So is the only difference between this amp and the Classic 30 the tremolo? I really can't decide which I like better :upset: Better go and play them again.

The DB is a very good amp...
I have friend who stuck in two Jensen 10's instead...ah it made the sound more lively and open, plus a great deal more sweet as well.
A very good all around amp.

Yup..not surmountable by any means..good boost, or a speaker change as mentioned. Perhaps even the tubes.

Great amp, IMO. It was very responsive to the touch and playing dynamics. It was just one of those pieces of gear when you play it, it makes you play better (at least for me it did).

Peavey has come a long way with amps AFAIC. Every newer model (tube or SS) I've played has been very impressive.

Yes the Delta Blues is the same amp as the Classic 30 except it has tremolo. Or actually, I think there are versions of it that have reverb and no tremolo. There's also the different speaker combinations. 1X15 2X10'2 or 12's(I forget on this one) or 4X10's.

I personally prefer the Delta Blues over the Classic, but that's pretty subjective.

Really dig the DB, it seems a bit more compressed than the 30. I have only played one though, so it may have just been that amp.

I don't know if the circuits are the same or not, but the DB seems a lot darker and midrangey than the Classic 30 which has more open, and upper end.I think they do something to the bias and NegFB in the DB, they may have done something to the damping as well, because the low end seemed more focused ... I'd say that could be the speaker, but 15's are notoriously flabby and tubby (to me anyway), but this one wasn't, much tighter low end. I didn't like it myself, I played one with a 15 ... of course I hate 15's ... so ...
I think there may be some circuit tweaks ... I'd love to know for sure ... anybody got a schematic of the DB? The Classic 30 I've got ... interesting, didn't they change the DB three times or so since it's conception?

Yea it's down to the DB 210 and the Classic 30 112.
