Anyone every play one? I'm getting serious GAS for one; almost to the point of trading my new EBMM Morse giuitar for one. It looks like an evolved Telecaster with my favorite Tele pickup.

I've never played an Omniac, but I had the same gas for the Steve Cropper model Peavey tele. I found one and have never been happy with the sound or feel. I have a Peavey Wolfgang that I love, so you know..... I'd suggest playing it a lot before you buy. The funny thing is I've played Peavey guitars since the T-40 and T-60 came out and really liked them. I guess I expected too much from the Cropper Classic. I hope you like it. I have heard lots of good about them...

I don't know how many dealers carry much in the Peavey guitar line, all the PV dealers around here have almost no guitars, a few amps and mostly sound support equipment. I THINK most on-line dealers will ship with approval period, but that would still cost you shipping if you weren't happy. I know the service people at PV are great to work with, e-mail www.mbrown@peavey.com . His name is Mike Brown, good guy and he is always very helpful. He maybe can point out a dealer close that has one. let me know how it comes out!! good luck.

Those EBMM Morses are awesome! If it were me I wouldn't be trading that off.
Can you find a used tele you like and stick the same wiring/pup combo in to that, that the Omniac has?

Why? It seems like a pup change and the wiring wouldn't be too hard. Or is it finding a tele you like?

That's not a very easy wiring scheme and I have about given up on my Tele. I can't get it in tune to safe my life...

All it is, is a JD and an APS2. We already have the wiring diagram. In fact, I believe it was you who helped me find it.
BTW: I love that guitar too, but I still think I'd mod a regular Tele.

Yes, I agree 100% on that one. My plan is to get a Baja Tele, install an APTL-3JD in the bridge and an APS-1 in the neck and possibly to the JD wiring....

Actually, I have an OLP EBMM Axis copy. It looks a lot like the Omniac. I'm going to refinish it and install a Tele bridge and put an APTL-3JD in it. I'm also going to make a pickguard for it and route a cavity to fit a 5-way blade switch.
If all goes well, I'll have my Omniac minus the $1200 price tag...

FWIW, I've played 2 or 3 of those and none of them were worth a crap IMO....WAY too heavy, no natureal sustain...just bad guitars over all IMO.

The sadest part to me is that they were typical Peavey guitars in the sense that the fretwork was great, the factory set up was pretty decent the pots and switch had a nice solid feel to them, the tuners didn't slip but all the ones I have played had no natural sustain or ring to them, they all weioghted a ton...no lie I bet they weighted more than my R8! They were just terrible, sad really but I would easliy without thinking twice abotu it buy ANY MIM Fender over the Omniacs I've played...

There are two custom shop models in the store I work at, they're the best teles I've ever played! I'm saying this as a guitar player. The V neck is really comfortable and I don't feel they're that heavy, they're pretty average I feel. The pickups are great sounding and the wiring makes the guitar sound awesome. As far as the sustain, I never really had a problem. The intonation I was worried about because I usually don't like the the three barrel setup normally with teles, but I looked and they were compensated, which is something I've never seen before. I say give one a whirl. They're only about $1200 which will run you as much as a decent MIA Tele from Fender and I feel it kicks the Fender's butt! And that's saying a lot as I'm a HUGE Fender fan.
