Peavey KICKS @$$ this year

Re: Peavey KICKS @$$ this year

Hey fretburner, if you search the tips and clips for valveking, I have several clips posted for you guys, and FWIW, I've been super happy with my Valveking, and I've had it for a couple months now. If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a PM man.

The Windsor is also made in Asia, hence the low price. The Penta is made in the US (notice the huge price difference between it and the Windsor, although they are very similar). The Penta was the latest go 'round with George Lynch, the first being the XXX. It was originally supposed to be called the Brahma, he was talking about it 2 or 3 years ago. They just can't seem to work out the final details on a long term relationship.

Re: Saturation

Re: Saturation

when I was younger I had a lot of it...in the south it's every damn where!

agreed...Peavey amps were EVERYWHERE in the South. I'm with Christian, I've yet to have/hear one that REALLY impressed me. 5150 is OK with some decent speakers, and the TT amps are decent SS offerings. But overall just very very...average...plain vanilla.

I did like the old VTMs from the late 80s(?) they had the little dip switches? That was one of the better sounding Peaveys.

Re: Peavey KICKS @$$ this year

I've found some bands get a really awesome sound out of a 5150 (In Flames on some albums, Come Clarity, Soundtrack to Your Escape, I like Clayman as well), and some don't. It varies, even though the amp really only makes one sound.

The XXX is a great amp, but I haven't played the JSX.

Jeff B: It's so funny you mentioned the VTM series...after reading that Kim from Soundgarden used them I had to have one!

I played mine through a Bassman 2x12 loaded with a pair of EVM12L's...it was a heavy ass rig in every way...it weighted a ton but the sound it made could knock down walls!
