Peavey Royal 8 - worth replacing speaker?

So a few years ago, I got a Peavey Valve King Royal 8 - basically a simple 5 watt tube amp with 1 12AX7 and 1 EL84. I guess I was fooled by the whole "tubes are good, right?" thing...

Since then it's spent most of the time sitting unused under the bed as I can get better sounds with less effort from modeling software.

Now I'm having a clear out and it's either got to get used or get out - so I'm wondering if it could be resurrected by a speaker upgrade.

The Celestion Super 8 doesn't cost that much - do you reckon it would be enough better than the stock speaker to be worth it?

There are also some 8" speakers from Jensen and Weber, but they cost quite a bit more and I don't know if it's worth spending over 1/3 the cost of the amp on a speaker.

Go with Weber speakers. I had a Sig 8 that morphed a MG15 into something actually useful! Depends on what sound you like so choose accordingly.

I vote for the "get out" option. I bought this same amp thinking it would be nice just to have something cheap around if someone else came over or if my kids wanted to mess around. It sounded so bad I sold it within a week. Dont waste your money...just my .02 $;)
