peavey ted nugent signature amp.....

Re: peavey ted nugent signature amp.....

It may be neat. Many of us like to play the 5150 for the sustain and fun gain but would not buy one for the high gain modern sound. If it is modified to be a little more "classic" rock sounding it may be neat. I prefer his tone on Don't tread on me to most things out there. I think that was an SLX. May be worth playing

Re: peavey ted nugent signature amp.....

Back when I was in high school (1968 thru 1971) we use to go hear the Amboy Dukes play at many locations. Clubs, high schools, parks......fantastic days. It was a whole differant era back then and guys like Ted were considered to be gods for us young kids who were just starting to learn how to play. The Amboy dukes were all monster players and were very cool people to boot. Whether Ted is deserving of signature gear is a differant topic, but I'll never forget those early days. It was a crazy time to have been around.

AWESOME!!!!

Well I for one would take Ted's classic tone, the newer 5150 tone impresses me less but Ted is easily one of my fave guitar players, Cat Scratch and the first Ted Nugent album loom large in my musical legacy.

Look at a few threads in the Sound Room about the future of music, making money, surviving - talking about different paradigms and courses that musicians are going to take to keep pace. I think aligning yourself with a successful company to market gear attached to your name is going to get bigger and bigger.

My Dad and my Uncle(from my moms side of the family) tell me about Ted and these bands that used to play around Flint MI all the time.
Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, MC5 grandfunk etc. I guess they used to play at their high schools and stuff.

Oh God, yeah!! There was a hockey ring in Livonia Michigan where a lot of those bands use to play. The Amboy Dukes, the Stooges, the MC5, Bob Seger, SRC, the Frost.....we use to see those bands back then for $1.25!!!!

Again, it was so differant back then. These weren't just concerts or shows....they really were EVENTS for us kids. There were so many bands back then and they all had thier own unique sound. I think the thing that really made it cool was the fact that it was so in your face back then. There was nothing but honesty in it back then. No light shows (other than the large spot lights) and no special sound effects. there were no distractions. It was just the music, the bands antics and it was loud, loud, LOUD!!!!

It's very hard to find the right words to describe it all back then.

Re: peavey ted nugent signature amp.....

Along the lines of Nostalgia, Ted scared the crap out of me as a kid. ( in a good way) The very definition of what made rock dangerous, the first time I heard Stranglehold, was like, well the night I saw The Hills have Eyes and The Pom Pom Girls, in a double feature ( I was 9 lol).... Both events changed me for life at a younger age than perhaps I was ready for.....

My moms old boyfriend, who I am still close to grew up in Michigan. Has some great Nugent stories.....

I will give the amp a spin, If it is a slightly relaxed 5150, then I think it could be very cool. personally I would love to see a Leslie West amp to hit the streets... Hell, give me a Punky Meadows amp!!

Re: peavey ted nugent signature amp.....

Always room for another amp out there. I'm a huge fan of Ted's tone on Double Live Gonzo, though I imagine the new amp won't be aiming toward that sound...

Re: peavey ted nugent signature amp.....

anytime i've seen Ted live over the last 10 years i've always loved his tone... pounding thunder from his 5150's.... the live album from 2001 called Full Bluntal Nugity is great!!!!

Re: peavey ted nugent signature amp.....

He wasn't just "one of the top" acts in the late 70's.

He was THE world's NUMBER ONE touring act 3 years running. Not 8 months. Not one year.

3 years straight!

Ampeg is looking into it!:friday:

Re: peavey ted nugent signature amp.....

Just a wild guess, It would be based on a 5150, But channel 1 would be the WANGO CHANNEL and 2 would be the TANGO CHANNEL ! if not it would be a cool marketing ploy. Add loin cloth tolex and put a big bullseye on the speaker grill. It will be unmistakable uncle Ted's amp. :naughty:

Re: peavey ted nugent signature amp.....

From the video links posted earlier, I found vids for little miss dangerous.. Man, I LOVE that song.. Had PRS on in that one..

Instead of tolex, the amp will be wrapped in buckskin!!

Re: peavey ted nugent signature amp.....

Nugent hasn't been packing arenas for a while.

He's been on the county fair circuit for years. Not sure where you got that he was "selling out arenas"

I have never heard the first Hendrix quote regarding Nugent, positive or negative. What quote/event does the notion that Jimi "looked up to Nugent" stem from? Because he certainly had no reason to look up to Nugent, even if there is something to that claim...

Re: peavey ted nugent signature amp.....

Regardless of whether he's currently packing arenas or not, he's still a prominent figure in Rock music. Love him or hate him, his playing appeals to no small amount of folks who currently play guitar. Peavey would be remiss to pass up on an opportunity to put out a tweaked "JSX" type 5150 amp that appeals to Ted's ears. Odds are there are thousands of fans out there who will also dig the amp. If you think about it, what harm is there in putting out a Ted Nugent amp as it only broadens the tonal pallete we have to choose from? Seems like a positive thing to me. You have a few people on this site wondering about it, which means that it's generating buzz (meaning Ted is still relevant).

Re: peavey ted nugent signature amp.....

I don't like him...But his tone is great and his style is uniqe..He deserves a siganture amp...If we think most amp head buying customers are over 30 ,he would sell alot with his name on it!

Last year he did over 25 shows w/ over 12,000 fans, I think he's doing more than just county fairs! Do your homework, because Hendrix did use to go see Nugent in the mid 60's when he played w/ the Isley Bros.( Hendrix that is) You may disagree with him politically, but you can't say he does'nt deserve a signature amp! He was doing things in the mid 60's on guitar that brought an intensity to rock guitar.

Re: peavey ted nugent signature amp.....

I have a 5150 and its my main amp. I'm really excited about a Ted Nugent amp. I'm pretty sure I know how it differ in sound from the 5150.

I expect the Peavey Ted Nugent amp to Be done up with a Camo colored tolex or Front grill Or it will be black and white Zebra pattern.

Re: peavey ted nugent signature amp.....

Will the Ted sig amp have a breathalyser that turns off the amp if you're drunk?

I will say that his 'Survival of the Fittest' Amboy Dukes era was killer.

Re: peavey ted nugent signature amp.....

No real point a Teddy amp having that. He doesn't drink alcohol.

That's my point. While Ted still can scream on the gtr, there were some shows several yrs back when I lived in Wisconsin where he was preaching his no alcohol mantra from the stage. Maybe he wouldn't want some of us playing his amp drunk...this is tongue in cheek, BTW.

Re: peavey ted nugent signature amp.....

You are an idiot, an evidently don't know anything about the history of rock guitar. Ted still can fill any arena he plays at, and was one of the pioneers of Heavy guitar riffs.(even Hendrix looked up to Ted back in the day)As far as his political soundings, he's certainly not the first rock musician to spout off w/ his opinions.

First off there is no need to call any forum member names. Your free to disagree with someones opinion but direct attacks are not accepted here.

Second, Ted does not fill arena's. I shot his show last fall on the same night as Vince Neil and Neil even had a bigger crowd. An artist worth/talent certainly is not measured by if they sell out an arena or not of course. Hanah Montana sold out the Garden in like 4 minutes if that tells you anything, but please be realistic about the Nudges mass appeal.

Third, should you not be thankful I'm not getting in line to buy this amp ? If anything people should hope its a huge flop so you can get one for $499 on blowout at Guitar Center in 6 months. Popular items suck from a consumer standpoint. You can't find them in stock anywhere and you get ripped off on ebay due to supply and demand.

Last of all I'm quite sure old Uncle Ted would be quite proud at your jumping to defend his virtue, but he's probably off on a canned hunted somewhere and too busy to notice.

Cheers
