Update: I got the amp!! Best part was it came with the footswitch but it needs a repair (all it needs is a new 7 pin connector!)

I have the chance to buy an ultra 112 from a guy for around $200, The problem tho is that it has a humming sound, I talked to an amp repair guy and he said it's probably tubes and would most likely cost like 50 bucks to repair, Right now my budget is around 210 or so, also I would need to buy a footswitch for it in the future but the switches are hard to find and custom ones usually cost about $80. Is it still a good buy for the time being, as I am looking to move from solid state to tube, and I really liked the amp. Thoughts?

I actually got the 2x12 version last month for $200 and I think it's a pretty nice amp, but with the hum problem and a missing footswitch I might try haggling with the guy a little bit. Just my two cents...

If you're half competent with a soldering iron you can build yourself a FS for about 20$... otherwise guys like myself could hook you up for much less than 80$.... provided it's a standard latching footswitch, which it most likely is.

sounds like a bargain to me at 200$ but I'm in Canada so prices are usually higher.

tubes are an easy fix too and 50 for a set of power tubes isn't bad from a shop imho.

if it were me I'd grab it, even if I had to wait a bit to round up some cash before it's fully playable... they are great amps and as I said, 200$ is a great price for one in my part of the woods...

I agree that it's still a pretty good price. I've seen other ultra 1x12 combos selling for upwards of $300 before and some of them still didn't have a footswitch!

Thank you everyone for the suggestions, I'm assuming since there were so many other examples of the same problem that The ribbon cable might be the thing, I think next time I'm at the guys shop I'll see if i can pick it up, if it does turn out to be tubes or something else I can wait a while and bring it to the amp repair place! Now I just hope its still there when I go next..

I stand corrected in regards to the Fs.
Finding a used one or buyin one would be the best option. I've built a 5pin FS for my rectoverb and the enclosure + cable (5 conductor, not seven like yours) came quite pricey... It's definitely feasible but not that worthwhile moneywise if someone has to do it for you.

I'll be honest, that schematic looked like a pile of gobbledygook from an engineer, not a usable schematic. I'm no better than a low level hobbyist, but that's not something I'd be able to easily decipher without a datasheet.

Yeah I can't even begin to understand that other than the one thing is the 7 pin plug. also why would peavey make such a complex footswitch for a 3 channel amp? maybe it was because the heads had the light thingy that would change for each channel?

I saw a used ultra 112 on some music stores website but that was like $250 with $80 shipping, If it wasn't 6 hours away from me I'd probably buy that from the store but I'm not gonna go thru the hassle of getting it shipped, never even playing it and all that.

It's not that complicated once you've looked at different FS wiring but it is, I assume, needed by the way the circuit is built. The only superfluous thing, in my opinion, is the dual led indicator for the Crunch/ultra. Just using one led and leaving it off for one of the two options would've been fine IMo but I guess folks like to know more easily or something...
7-conductor wires that are flexible aren't that common in hardware stores (if you don't count the networking cable for computers that's not that flexible and looks crappy). It's still easily doable but not that much economically speaking and as I stated, you're better buying one somewhere sometime.

It could be simplified by selecting what you want/don't want to use on a regular basis.... for example, my Rectoverb has 3 functions: channel, boost and reverb. I bought a big enclosure to get all of these on the same footswitch. However, I usually set a touch of reverb and keep it as is... I could therefore just build a footswitch without the reverb so only 2 buttons instead of three. That makes for a much simpler wiring scheme and smaller FS footprint. Just buy 7-in connectors but don't connect what you don't use so you can use a simpler cable and less switches.

Another question, I have an 8 ohm 4x12, if I wanted to use it with the ultras speaker engaged, what would I have to set the ohms to? and if I wanted to use it on its own without the ultras speaker what would I set the ohms to? Peaveys manual tells you for 2 4x12s but I only have one

Depends on the impedance of the stock speaker mostly, and the way the jacks are wired.

What does the manual say precisely regarding plugging multiple cabs? Usually (key word) you'll be able to plug in multiple cabs or speakers but they'll have to be of the same impedance (I know there are probably exceptions to that but...)

Used to select the correct impedance of the speaker enclosure(s) if two enclosures of equal impedance are used the switch should be set at half that value (I.e for two 16 ohms enclosures set the switch to 8 ohms, for two 8 ohms enclosures set the switch to 4 ohms.)

Ok so I have one 8 ohm enclosure, and I'm not sure of the ohms of the built in speaker which is hooked up already to one of the outputs.

Where are those 2 "middle" connections soldered to.?
Looks like they are on the middle of the switch itself.
First one is on The Verb Switch, to ground
Second one is on the UC switch to a LED.
