I don't have time to get into a ****ing pissing match with you, dude. I look for people who play metal, and suggest what I think would work best for them. I have many times suggested other amps, such as a VHT, 5150, or XXX, to people looking for something different. I will, of course, defend my "fart cannon" if it's knocked, though, just as you'd defend your beloved JCM900.

You dont have time? Is it yourt bed time already? This is just starting to get fun man! I do love me 900 but, I like ALOT of other amps and have owned many different amps.

People ask for the best cheap axes? I'll recommend Schecter. I honestly think they make the best cheap axes. If people want a good, tight, thick metal tone, I will suggest EMG's, because I have been up and down the Duncan line and not found a pickup that I like.
Schecters are decent for the money, I will admit but, there are alot of other jems out there to be had. I am not defending Duncan but, have you played their entire bucker lineup? I pretty much have owned almost all of them multiple times. I just find EMG's to be a nitch product that everyone in that nitch desent like alot of the time.

Cookie monster is such a bull**** term... you just can't get past the vocals, which only shows a narrow-minded attitude. I'm not saying that I'm not narrowminded myself, because I am. I'm the pickiest ****er I know, but I don't knock what you listen to.

I listen to everything except cookie monster metal! Why is it BS to call it that? It sounds like cookie monster, but harder to understand, guitars usually sound muddy as hell, etc. I dont get the appeal but, thats me.

Ozzfest is a ****ing joke. If you want to make a more logical comparison, try Wacken Open Air. Also, check out http://www.sevenstring.org. It's absolute BULLSH!T that the most 7 stringers in the past whatever years have been ****ty numetal dowtuned chuggers. The best lineup Ozzfest had was last years, and you may use that as an example. Most of the guitarists last year could play circles around Zakk.

I agree that ozzfest os a joke on many levels. Wacken Open Air? Wacken like, wacken off? See, I knew it was musical masterbation! LOL!

LOL!

Re: Peavey Ultra Plus Head on eBay

No, I just don't feel that this is a healthy use of my energy. Don't bring up that bull**** bedtime age ****, I'm sick of it.

There are other jems, for sure, but Schecters seem to be the most easily acceptable/widely available, thus why I recommend them. I can also recommend Japanese Jacksons and many others, but they're harder to find.

I have tried the DD, Invader, JB, Custom, Custom 5, Full Shred, Jazz, 59, Dimebucker, and Livewires. The only thing that might work for me is a Custom/JB hybrid, I'll have to try that somtime.

You yourself have admitted to only trying the EMG81, the one pickup I hate from EMG. I suggest trying out the 85 or 707 in the bridge, SA and S in the neck.

Muddy guitars? What the **** have you been listening to? Muddy is the only word I wouldn't use to describe the music I listen to. I can understand the vocals fine, it's a thing you acquire over time. The most aggressive form of vocals for the most aggressive form of music, nothing else would fit.

And Jesus, grow the **** up dude. Wacken Open Air is the biggest metal fest in the world, it takes place in Germany.

Sorry Theodie but that's not a very good comeback to Jeff's point. I will have to side with him on this one. Just because you've never heard of some of those bands (or are just being funny) doesn't really give you the right to ignore his main point which was those bands use or have used EMG's and Rectos and they sure as hell aren't Nu Metal and their tones are great.

Second, about the bedtime thing, that's just not right. Haven't we already learned here that age has nothing to do with anything? Jeff may be young but he is very mature and extremely knowledgable about so many things for his age, and I daresay he knows a sh!tload; probably more than some forum members here, and I happily include myself among them. He has had plenty of experience with different guitars and amps so I think that gives him a right to state his opinion regardless of musical style. My apologies, but lay off criticizing people for their age and find a real way to defend yourself.

We all have the rights to our opinions but that doesn't mean you should attack others in that way because you disagree.

BACK TO THE ORIGINAL POINT.
Some say the XXX is better than the Ultra Plus for a few reasons, but what do you guys think?

I have used the 81, 85, SA and the 60. IMO, the 60 and the SA are the only ones that are worth a damn! The 60 is cool and the SA'a are too but, they are for special uses IMO! I really like their pre-amps though, the SPC and EXG ALOT! I have used them alot with passives in the past to make some killer tones. I have NEVER admitted to only trying the 81!

Wacken off!!!!! LOL! I still think its funny!

and come on Metallica?... did you listen to St. Anger?

Re: Peavey Ultra Plus Head on eBay

ok i read through part of the pissing match and got tired of it so i won't even bother to respond to that pointless crap.

i will say this...9 out of 10 people here (and on other forums) are bias to the gear they own. for good reason actually, since that's the sound they wanted so that's what they bought. granted, i own an ultra plus and love the thing, but i also own a dual recto (my main amp now) an engl powerball and a '79 marshall JMP. i have played through more amps than i care to remember over the years including the XXX and 5150 that keep getting brought up.

ok, the ultra plus...it will do anything a XXX will do! as for the 5150...i never was a fan, i've played through the old block letter ones that some nuts think are better, the newer ones, the 5150II (man that thing blows) and the 6505...every one of them for the most part i felt were too damn harsh and edgy on the top end IMO.

the XXX and ultra plus are a bit more well rounded with a FAR better clean and mid gain sound and a fatter/warmer lead/high gain sound can be had. the ultra plus can give you a MASSIVE low end if you want tons of chunk, that's for sure along with a real tight bottom with the flip of a 3 way toggle that shapes the low end (tight, mid, lose) which is a great feature IMO.

i don't think you will be sorry at all going with an ultra plus with a 4x12 from playing pretty much any form of combo.

again, this is MY opinion and it's your money.

ok, i'll go off topic just for this...i still blame that crap on Bob Rock Mister "i wanted a raw sound/feel to the album" :smash: grated it was Metallica's bad choice to listen to him but at least they wised up for the new album and have a new guy behind the board.

He knows some stuff for a young fellow that is correct. I just happen to think its all centered around "new metal" diveristy is good! The bedtime comment, He is the one that said he didnt have any time. I figured it was getting late and that time was near! It wasnt really a bust on his youngness. You got it all wrong bro! Like undermixed bass? :butkick:

But seriously, I agree. He was a damn good bass player who had a lot of skill, and to be fair it's not like it was his option on AJFA. However, I think Rob Trujillo is also an amazing bassist and will have a lot to contribute.

Re: Peavey Ultra Plus Head on eBay

holy cow flame city....I will agree that emg's +rectos usually are for the young heavy rock/metal/shred/your style here/nu metal kinds of guys and for the most part the tones they get out of that combo are crap.

just like DSS3 said you have to tweak em to make them sound good...as with any guitar product.

I personally dislike rectos cause they tend to fart out..and tend to be harsh.at least with my style and playing I would rather have a line 6 vetta, legacy, carvin V3, or a randall rm4.

Sorry, I should have specified in the bridge. I remember you saying in that "hottest pickup for metal" thread that you said you had only tried the 81 in the bridge. Am I remembering incorrectly?

As far as diversity being good, if I hit "shuffle" on iTunes, the bands come up as...

Old Man's Child
The Police
Nevermore
Judas Priest
Kelly Clarkson
Elton John
Dying Fetus
Enya
Necrophagist
Devin Townsend Band
etc...

The combination of the two and the fact that they dont equal numetal.

Metallica was amazing. Key word: was. Who gives a **** about St. Anger? They were amazing. In hindsight, they used Marks, so I guess they're out the window on that list, but the rest still stand.

OK, I stand corrected! I am not to proud to admit it! Some good acts in there!

Glad that you recognize Jeff has knowledge. And yes, I do know the root of assume is ass; I don't think I'm the only one who should take note of that. Let's not forget who assumed that because a person plays a certain type of gear he isn't necessarily right. Regardless of whether you meant your bedtime comment in that way, who would read it and not think that? Your saying "he said he didn't have time" is just a poor excuse IMO.

As for post #13, I completely understand DSS3's reaction because you insulted his choice of gear and used it to claim that his opinion should be taken with a grain of salt. Whether or not that was intended, that is how it was perceived and you can't change that. We could all benefit from choosing our words more carefully, and maybe you'll say I should've done the same in this response. Well then, I won't disagree with you. Nuts.

**** it all, let's just take a flight over to Germany and wackenhoff all over, eh?
