Peavey VTM and a 130.00 battle axe.

Bullet Proof Toneologist

Messing around with my 80s dream combo, my Peavey VTM 60 head and my new Craigslist treasure, a 130.00 JB Player factory finish Frankie ( or at least close to it). Been a LONG time since I messed with a trem loaded guitar, and this has a Kahler, which I am quite fond of. I tossed a 20.00 Artek bucker in it, and was surprised at the tone that thing has... Once I shake my rust off, I am looking forward to really messing with a trem machine. Guitar is one of my fave finds and I am a sucker for an 80s PV tube amp. I changed a couple resistors and a cap to warm the amp, thing rocks real nicely w/o all that upper mid thing going on.

Awesome. It reminds me of when I was 16, going over to a buddy's house to play this.

Thanks Everdrone.. I am hoping to expand on the boiyoiyoiyoing that is my trem vocabulary now. I had it going on back in the day!

Yep, we lived the same life. :) This new guitar has opened the door to my early days, I am now going to have to dig out all of my 80s Guitar mags...

JB Player! nice score. I see those pop up regularly and they are never priced as high as they're worth. Serious steals.

Re: Peavey VTM and a 130.00 battle axe.

I would love to get my hands on a VTM60 . . .

. . . because, as we all know, Kim Thayil (Soundgarden) started out with these, albeit the 120W heads.

Time to release another demo tape! (on an actual tape)

Agreed, they have no rock legacy, kinda like a Datsun 280z. Awesome car, but was never going to be a Corvette....

Re: Peavey VTM and a 130.00 battle axe.

They are mean machines, bone stock they are a bit nasally, like much of PVs 80s and beyond offerings, but once that is addressed, I think they are great rock amps, lot of classic character, but much more gain on tap.
