So this thing has become my project over the past several days, keep messing with a few things. So to date, here is what I have done.
Remove 470k resistor and 470pf off of the input to master. I replaced the resistor with a 33K after messing with a few values. .
I clipped the bright cap off of the master volume.
In the pre section ( amp is in 4 different wired sections of circuit board, easy to mess with once disconnected, but tough for me to identify what is what..... because of this and my lack of official tech knowledge, I don't know the official name of the caps I replaced in the next tweak. I generally do one thing at a time and depending if I like it or not, I move on or put it back stock)) I replaced one of the .022 caps, with a .033 I left the other at .022 It is the cap nearest to V1 on the left side of the pre section, not the O.C. cap on the right... . The goal was a bit more bottom and grind and warmth). I clipped the 470Pf ceramic in this section too, liked how it sounded better...
For this clip, I have the gain 1 dip switch clicked on, all the other mod switches are off. Master dimed, Pre 5 or so. Bass 2, Mid 9, Treble 0, Presence 10. To my ears, the amp is much smoother, fatter and responds more like a non master amp. There is a ton of gain on tap, if I choose to use it. For fun, I replaced the gain 2 boost switch .68 cap with a 330. Tons of sustain and sounds great with the pre rolled back, so if I need the crazy nu metal thing, it is there.
Useing Sino 5881 tubes in it.
Have a PZM about 8 feet back into the same Traynor cab I used on the other clip.... Tried to get close to how I had it set up.... Anyway, really likeing the amp and might be close to done with it, now that it sounds more open. Weber mass and a Strat with a High Order pickup is being used.
