i didnt like modeling amps befor i started using these. its retardedly accurate and, naturally, versatile. with the guitars i have, there's not a single sound i cant make ot at least come close. each amp model has 2 channels, some clean some alternate dirty channels.

list of models and my impression of each:
(primary channels)

-peavey classic - nice crunch
-peavey XXX - scooped and tight. good for EMGs
-peavey JSX - edgy without being harsh
-peavey 6505/5150 - pretty saturated and loud. sounds good with passives.
-mesa dual rectifier - very saturated and edgy. can get fuzzy. classic mesa tone.
-krankenstein - very ice picky and harsh. not very useful.
-diezel - sounds good if you turn down the trebble and gain.
-fender twin - very light vintage crunch.
-fender deluxe - very bright and crunchy like it should sound.
-vox AC30 - brian may
-marshall plexi - AC/DC
-bad cat - lots of upper mids and edge. i dont use it much but i like it.

theres also a set of pedal simulators in front of the amp models and effects between the amps and EQ's.

theres also a power sponge that lets you get the cranked tone wihout the volume.

Re: peavey vypyr guys.

i spent some time with two different vypyrs.

i hated them both.

There's an annoying kinda faint digital distortion in the background of every model. It was very prevalent on the clean settings.

I found them to be totally unuseable.

Give me a cheapo ss amp any day of the week.

Re: peavey vypyr guys.

I have a Vypyr 75, and a Vypyr 15. They both sound great and tons of versatility. I actually use a Boss ME 70 in front of both, so the number of options are limitless. However, I also have a Jet City 20, and a Blackheart 5 tube amp, and if you a/b them, nothing can compare to a tube. The Vypyr 75 is pretty close though.

Re: peavey vypyr guys.

I have the tube version, with the 12ax7 and the dual 6L6's. I like it. Then again, I've never heard the actual amps in person...

Re: peavey vypyr guys.

I have a vypyr 15, it is a great toy! Hell I even cranked it with drums once and it sounded pretty good. I've been known to throw it in my trunk on road trips and also drunkenly bring it out on my deck whilst banging it against every surface possible on the way through the door...it has not failed me yet! I can't kill this thing. Sure there might be some better little modelers out there but this one in particular is the one you if you just want to crank insane amounts of digital gain and rock out through some headphones. What I don't get is why in the world someone would get a 100 watt combo, that is just ridiculous.
