Wattage said:Yeah you can get some nice slightly overdriven bluesy sounds out of it. You'd probably want to go with a little cooler tube in the front end to make that range a little wider.

Both sound really good, and the differences are very noticeable. Great job! Overall I liked the EL34s better...I wonder what the verdict would be if you did a clean clip with both of those tube types. In my Mark IV I like the ELs better for distorted and the 6L6 better for clean.
I truly appreciated the "I Got Mine" quote in the 6L6 clip...did you put on your Brian Robertson ballet slippers for maximum authenticity?

Wattage said:Thanks. The XXX has Celestion Century speakers in it, other than those and the tubes it is stock. I do run the stock speakers in an a 2x12 Avater cab that I use with it. It hasn't been to Voodoo or anything like that if that is what you mean. The stock speakers sounded good but the damn thing weighed like 90 lbs so I knocked off about 12 lbs with the CC's. They seem to react much better to the EL's than the 6L's.
