Pedal colors, what do you expect?

Based on edwuld’s post, I think we all expect certain colored pedals to be certain styles…. What do you see/think?

Clearly Boss, Ibanez and MXR have had a massive impact on me.

Red - Marshall Distortion
Orange - Phase Shifter
Yellow - Drive of some sort
Green - Mid-peak Overdrive
Blue - Chorus
Pink - Analog Delay
Purple - WILDCARD!
White - Digital Delay
Black - Metal Distortion
Gray - Flanger / Fuzz
Silver - Fuzz / Flanger

I’m curious to see everyone else’s thought. Just do stream of consciousness, don’t think too deeply.

Almost all the compressor pedals that I have are silver. Except for the one that's blue.

If I make a pedal called the “Tripline” and it has dumb control names like the the DOD Grunge like “Tension”, “Span”, “Line” and “Trip” what is it?

Green - it’s a Tube Screamer
Red - It’s a distortion
Black - Its a metal pedal, maybe fuzz
Hammertone - it’s a fuzz
Purple - I don’t know! Could be anything!

Tripline Limiter or Tripline Gate, colour it brown.

I'd like to see someone use a paint that mimics the old mood ring.
That would be cool.

It turns green when you are playing decent, red when you are on fire and brown when you are awful.
Well, really it would react to how hot your pedal gets. So if you leave it on for the whole set, it turns purple. If you only use it once in a while it stays black.

Yes to the purple being wildcard territory.

I have a Solidgold FX Funkzilla envelope filter that is a gorgeous purple sparkle and love it.

Besides that, I agree with OP's colorwheel of soundscapes.

In most instances, especially with modern pedals, I don't associate color with pedal type. On my old school pedals I somewhat do think of it in that way. As a young kid, my friends and I just wanted the (insert color) pedal as they were often referred to that way. "Dude! I got the green pedal" kind fo thing, Now I want to get the blue one next. With so many pedals available today, I say mix up the colors and go for it!

I do notice the makers of a lot of the heavier sounding pedals are really raising the bar on their artwork. Reminds me of the metal album covers back in the day a bit. A lot of music was purchased because the album cover was cool so therefore the band couldn't suck and get away with a cover like that...lol.

You knew if you saw Ed Repko art it was going to be decent.
