Pedal suggestions

Hey, I have a Peavey 212 Vt Classic. This amp has no distortion/ overdrive. I wanna have good distortion i.e. motorhead, AC/DC, Metallica, cream. I also need a wah pedal. I dont really need anything expensive, but i want good quality gear. What do I get?

Re: Pedal suggestions

Well you named some very different types of distortion/overdrive tones there. Cream and AC/DC go the Marshall route, I'd expect Motorhead to have used Marshalls and Metallica has used a whole slew of stuff over the years. Perhaps a modded Boss DS1 could do the trick. You may want to look at the Marshall Jack Hammer or Gov'nor.

As for wahs I don't have too much experience with those, but I do love my Ibanez weeping demon.

Re: Pedal suggestions

The OCD doesn't have near enough drive for Metallica or Motorhead. I'd go with the Marshall Jackhammer. It can go from vintage crunch to modern day metal. It's pretty diverse, and it's under $100. For a wah, if you want inexpensive, check out the Crybaby's or Vox models.

Re: Pedal suggestions

I think that the BOSS DS-1 is pretty underrated. It can be very diverse if you don't slam the gain straight to 10

Re: Pedal suggestions

+1 to the jackhammer... I'm about to put mine up for sale, but B Bent seems like he needs to move his stuff much more than I need to at the moment, so grab it off him before someone else does. I like the jackhammer a lot, very vesatile, but my overdrive is almost done being built (should be done by tonight, at least the electronics) and I need cash to buy more pedals to mod / build!

As for a good wah, are you decently handy with a soldering iron? If so, try and grab a crybaby or vox for as cheap as possible. Find one on ebay already with a true bypass mod. There's so many mods for wah pedals on the internet, and IMO, mods to wah pedals are the most significant changes you'll hear with any pedal because of the vocal nature of them.

get a better amp:smokin:
DUDE....you need to quit posting....

That avatar is driving me NUTS.

WHO IS THAT????? :32:

Back to the topic:

How about a TECH21NYC Tri-OD or their new SansAmp Tri-AC....

Analog SansAmp circuitry features Drive and Level controls, an active three-band EQ, and three selectable amp voicings:

TWEED = Fender®-style
BRITISH = Marshall®-style
CALIFORNIA = Mesa/Boogie®-style

Hoss just picked one up & loves what it does to his Fender Blues Jr.

As for wahs, a Vox 847 is a good place to start, although better ones can be had. I liked the comment in another thread that mentioned the old Dunlop Mr. Crybaby Super could be used as a volume pedal when not in wah mode....sounds like a nice 2 in 1 deal.

Re: Pedal suggestions

+1 on "who is that"

And here is a suggestion: What about a Digitech Distrotion Factory and a Boss V-wah? Those two items could cover A LOT of sonic turf, two pedals, and pretty reliable stuff.

If you only want one sound though, I'dgo DS-1 and crybaby.

Re: Pedal suggestions

IMO is the tri a.c not enough "hard".Jackhammer has more gain.sounds fuller..Rocktron Rampage is a monster.is quiet and u can scoop very effektive.
Digitech stuff are cool but not my taste.(except whammy).For the wah.If you are not going to record prof. , try the bad horsie from Morley.Versatile and rocksolid.
