Perhaps a dumb question, but I'll try anyway ...

My Strat's ground is wired to the trem claw, which makes sense. My question is: where does the ground wire go on a hardtail Strat?

I suspect I just don't know enough about guitar wiring, but please enlighten me!

Don't they stil have a back cavity?? Then maybe theres a trem claw in there too.

Because if you had a hardtail in there (o btw i'm talking about a strat hardtail, not a TOM) you would have to still have tension on the bridge to fight back the strings tension, otherwise the strings would just pull the hardtail (which is the same as a trem but no place for a whammy bar) right up.

So I beleive it's the same as the hardtails do have springs and everyhting as well, just no spot for a bar. I've never seen one but I hope I'm right!

it gets sandwiched between the body and the bridge .. (usually)

and on LPs it goes under one of the studs that hold the tailpiece.

No, I'm talking about a "proper" hardtail Strat. They have a bridge that is screwed into the top of the guitar, and the strings run through the body like a Tele.

Okay, that makes sense ... but what path does the wire take to get there on a Strat? Does it just get flattened under the pickguard, or is there another way?

I don't know how Fender does it, but I had an Ibanez RG with a strat-hardtail bridge, and there was a hole underneath the bridge that the ground fed through.

yup, on strats there's a little hole that's drilled from the pickup and electronics cavity to the bridge, and that's where the ground goes to.

Is the ground wire connected anyway to the hardtail strat bridge or just sandwhiched in there to make contact?
