Perpetual Burn vs Custom/59 vs Custom Custom for my uses

I currently have an Ibanez 565 (H/S) config. I'm really not sure what I want to put in the bridge.

I have another one with a Dimarzio Air Zone, which is actually quite nice, but I'd like something that isn't quite as boomy in the bass. It compresses magically and has a balanced level of gain though. I also like the enhanced mid range response.

I tried a JB. Was too much gain for me. I caught myself constantly having to turn my amp gain down to 4 or less on all my heads to get a usable tone that isn't too saturated.

I'm mostly looking at the Perpetual burn, Custom Custom, and Custom/59. I'm also mildly interested in the Dimarzio Evo 2.

Haven't given a thought the the neck pickup yet. Bridge sound takes priority here.

I'm playing 80's metal and some modern stuff. Think Paul Gilbert, Def Leppard, Winger, and Dream Theater.

On the Dimarzio forum you said, "I'm thinking I need something slightly hotter than the air zone in this guitar". Here, you are saying that the JB is too hot. There isn't much in between those two. The Perpetual burn has a little less power than either of those, and is a bit like the JB without the nasal honk. If it were me, I would go with an Air Zone and a Cruiser neck.

That is a pretty big range of stuff, so I'd opt for the 59Custom Hybrid, which handles multiple styles well. It is still touch-sensitive, and doesn't hit the amp nearly a hard as a JB. The sound is clear and open, though.
