i like an amp that's smooth clean, yet it's breakup is really transparent.

Sort of like when you're distortion is not really gritty at all, just smoothed out and compressed signal. When i crank my bandmaster to 'round 8, a good hard pick and bend at the E string will throw it into this sort of overdrive. I almost never use any pedals anymore, just straight up clean one on one with the amp.

I like to set my Orange AD30 head with the Gain at about 2-3, which gives a clean sound if I play relatively softly and starts to get a little gritty if I play hard with a Humbucker equpiied guitar. If I need more gain, I'll usually use my Modded TS9 as my main Overdrive pedal, and my SD Pup Booster to boost the input of the amp if I want amp overdrive instead of using my Tubescreamer.

With my Strat, things stay cleaner for a little longer, but then I just use either a BOSS SD1 or my SD Pup Booster to smash the input of the amp and get sweet Overdriven tones The Tubescreamer also sounds great with my Strat and the Pup Booster as mentioned above

How do I vote for all three?

I like my headroom low enough that I can use the power amp to smooth over the preamp dirt, but high enough that I can still get a good and loud clean tone.
