Petrucci Wiring with 3 way telecaster switch

Is it possible to use a 3 way telecaster-style switch to get: 1)bridge 2)coil split 3)neck as seen on the attached JP6 diagram?

I'm not sure whether Petrucci's split wiring is a north coils/south coils setup either...

Thanks for your help!

Re: Petrucci Wiring with 3 way telecaster switch

No. You need a switch with multiple poles. The dimarzio ep1111 is a 4pdt switch that’s used for this. Ibanez uses a switch that does the same.

There is a workaround, however. If you use a second switch along with your pickup switch, I think you could do this. A push/pull switch can split the coils on each pickup; one side to ground one pickup junction and the other to choose the output lead for the other pickup. So you could have Neck/Both/Bridge on one setting and then Neck Split/Both Split/Bridge Split for the other. You will have to reverse one humbucker or reverse it’s magnet, and reverse the wiring for it to cancel hum in the middle position. If you’re looking to go from bridge humbucker to both inner coils, it would take two switch changes though.

That is actually a very useful setup. I'd love to hear how this turns out.

Oh a telecaster style switch. Yes they do make 4 pole - 3 and 5 way blade switches. You should get the 5 way so you can have more variety.

Re: Petrucci Wiring with 3 way telecaster switch

yes, and you don't need a special multipole switch. just a regular 3 way blade switch will work

only thing is the neck pickup splits to the coil with the adjustable polepieces to achieve humcancelling in the middle position, so you'll have to install the pickup with that coil towards the bridge to get it exactly like petrucci's setup

Yes you're right!! I should've used my mind for longer than one second to get to this answer, thanks. I just read multipole 3 way =/= telecaster blade switch and I only managed to fix that. my bad.
