PG+ changed to an A2

I'm going to put the a5 back into the hybrid to double check if my theory is correct. I do know one thing after all of this swapping around.....I love the A5 Hybrid the most of any of my bridge pups at the moment.

JM....Are you leaving the cover off each time during your tests and is the cover making any difference to you if it's on in the highs?

Also....Leave the cover off of it upon finishing with it cause I'll be listening to both the A2 and the A5 again to see what stays? I had the A5 in there for the longest time though...I'd imagine I'd go back to A5 again? Who knows? :smack: :beerchug:

I also have a PGB/Custom Hybrid A2 that I had in one of my strats for awhile with 4 conductor wire, but it looks like I'd have to extend the wires to make it reach within my LP? It'd be close, but I'm not sure if I actually have enough lead length otherwise?

This guitar has been the hardest one to dial in to date!

John, I've been leaving the cover on for both test to this point so I don't have a good comparison yet. I will leave the cover off for this next try with the a5 and report back. I did just try that with my Antiquity, it is currently installed without the cover in the Tele. I really couldn't hear a difference in tone from Covered to open coil. I know some say that it slightly compresses the tone, but I have yet to pick that up with my so-so hearing.

Well my ears weren't wrong, I LOVE the Hybrid with the a5! And as I suspected I couldn't hear any difference between covered or not.

I went back to a PGB/Custom hybrid in my Love Rock but I went back to the original A2 magnet....Please read my post about the outcome of the swap back....I have a cover on this one now also and I just had enough lead length to get it to work,as it came out of the bridge spot of one of my strats..

Re: PG+ changed to an A2

The dynamics of the experiment changed a bit when I broke my high e string after loosening and tightening them back up so many times. I was using a hybrid high 9's low 10's set, which I loved on this guitar. All I had was a 10 set to put back on. It does sound different, still great though. Anyone ever try a 9.5 set like the D'Addario exl120+? Great strings, slinky but still gives you some power in the bottom end.

I'm using .010s right now with my A2 Hybrid.
