Hello everyone,
I've been lurking as a guest for the last couple weeks and got so much great info decided to join in.
For 2 yrs. I've been playing a Epi LP Black Beauty (3 HB) with a Kent Armstrong Hot Rod Vintage in the bridge, a KA P90 in the middle, and a KA Vintage PAF in the neck. The guitar is wired to split both b&n pups to single coil, and alternate which coils sound (outer or inner).
While I've gotten some nice tones out of this setup, one thing has always bothered me...too much low end :smack: I can adjust it out with Eq OK, but finally decided to take the plunge and try some different pups.
After hours of reading your posts, i decided to try the Aph-1 in the neck. I think the Vintage at 8.9k was causing alot of the muddiness, and was shocked to hear what my neck pup COULD be sounding like. For the bridge, I hovered over the C,CC and C5 for quite awhile, but finally decided to try the PG. I'm hoping the extra bit of treble will counter the dark tone of the guitar.
Kinda new to the all this stuff, so any opinions from you guys would be great.
