Phase 90 or Small Stone

Re: Phase 90 or Small Stone

The 74 RI Script 90 has the added "feature" of being extremely exciting to play. THese days, using any pedal without a status LED feels akin to walking a tightrope without a net. It surprising how panic-inducing the lack of that little, glowing security blanket can be.

My boss had me install an LED in his 74 RI, but so far, I've kept mine "pure". Eventually, I may wimp out and add one to mine.

Re: Phase 90 or Small Stone

I own (and am selling) both a Phase 90 and a Nano Small Stone as I just can't decide which is 'better' for me.

I prefer the Small Stone for Clean/Crunch tones set at a slower rate, and prefer the MXR with mid - higher gain. As said before, both are good pedals and will serve you well.

Is there a phaser that can imitate both a 90 and a Stone? In the same price range? I think the HBE does, plus it does asymmetrical vibey stuff. It's a surprisingly versatile and great sounding unit that covers a lot of 90 and SS phase sounds.

And this is the reason why I'm selling my Small Stone and Phase 90 :D

The HBE Psilocybe Phase Shifter can get in the ball park of both the Small Stone and Phase 90, aswell as being able to throw some sounds of it's own into the mix. MAde it a simple choice for me, but I got mine from the states when the £ Vs $ rate was higher so I got it for a good price.

I feel like my HBE covers most of what I liked about my Nano Stone, but not quite all of the instant comfort and simplicity of my Phase 90, so I kept that one for when I want to plug and play. The HBE is a tweaker. And a fun one.

I have an EVH Phase 90 and i love it.

and this is the Phase 90 I kept. I like the script/block button and the stripes and the blinding blue LED and the adapter jack.

for me, next are a Phase 100 and a 45-type like a Mojohand Nebula, also interested in the Diamond, and still interested in the Subdecay and the Pigtronix.
