Phat Cat bridge

Has anyone tried putting a Phat Cat in the bridge position? I am interested in putting one in the bridge of my 1970 Les Paul Deluxe (the bridge mini was routed for a humbucker several years ago).

Any thoughts?

Re: Phat Cat bridge

Do you like P90's in the bridge? If so, you'll love the PC. It's a P90 in a hummer sized cover.

I have a custom set of PC's that MJ wound for me that are in my PRS McCarty. Great pups.

Re: Phat Cat bridge

what's the dif with your special wound pickups? do you think the stock PC is a dead ringer for the P90, or just kinda close?

Randy,

You heard the Phat Cat in the neck slot of my Tele at Tommy B's. If that sounded P-90 enough to you, then I would assume the bridge Phat Cat would do the trick. I suspect it will, with a bit less noise to boot.

...also interested in this topic ... I'm planning a Jazz in the neck & a PC at the bridge...interested to hear from those who have done it.

Re: Phat Cat bridge

Y'all should do yourself a favor and get the pair. It's a balanced set with a ton of punch, clarity, and growl that only P-90's can give you. I've got a set in my Sheraton and they kill for every kind of music right up to metal.

Re: Phat Cat bridge

my 9.4k antiquity died the other day (grrr) so i picked up a phat cat to replace it, i cant wait so i think i am gonna try and put it in tonight even though i have a bass and another guitar to wire up. ive played them in the hamer newport and i remember the tone being great in the bridge.

Re: Phat Cat bridge

I've used PCs in a couple of LPs. The bridge, with the tone rolled down to around 6, is phat and gnarly. Sounds great thru a BF or tweed Fender.
