Re: Phat Cat Question

Phat Cats used to be exclusively from the Custom Shop as they were made for the Hamer Monaco. Now, they're a standard production model. I think there are some differences between them, but I have no clue what they are. I don't think you can get the originals anymore anyway if there is a differance.

I wouldn't mind hearing more about this myself.

Re: Phat Cat Question

Welcome to the board. For a long time, the only place you could get Phat Cats were from the Custom Shop or by buying a Hamer guitar. The Custom Shop versions would do just about whatever P90 configuration you wanted. Say, a ceramic bridge and a vintage neck. MJ would just take the specs you give her and she winds them up. I had some customs made for a PRS I used to own.

Then a lot of here on the board kept bugging Evan Skopp, a Duncan VP, to release them to the general public. The thought was that they would take the Alnico 2 versions that had been widely accepted as kick much butt in the Hamers and released them to the public.

So, teh differences are..

1. Price
2. Your specs versus generic (but really sweet) production specs.

How's that? :)
