Phat Cat SG!

I just had an idea - what if you took a standard SG and placed a Phat Cat between the Gibson humbuckers? Not only would it look stylish (three near identical pickups) but either of the humbuckers split with the Phat Cat has just got to sound great!

I've been wondering lately what the Phat Cat sounds like. Yours is an interesting idea. If you were to do it, have a real luthier do it. SG's are pretty thin, and one mistake and you've got a nice hole through it.

Gibson and Epiphone both make a SG with 3 humbuckers.

I totally forgot about the SG Custom!:smack: What a dope I am. However, my answer still makes sense if you're talking about a Standard.:wave:

Definately. Routing out anything on a SG is scary business. I once saw a neck fall right off of one that was being routed out to accept a 'bucker in place of the stock P-90.

Necks falling off was a huge problem with the older ones. Defintiely scary. I wouldn;t mess with it. I defintiely would try a Phat Cat in the bridge position though.

SG's are very thin so routing is a problem. Even without routing, the neck joints aren't very strong. Most sg copies either go with a thicker body or a neck through design.

You stole my idea! Kinda. I'm thinking of getting an SG custom and putting 3 p-90's in them. or 2 p-90's and a phat cat
