Phat Cat Silencer with Gibson Quick Connect

I have an older Gibson Les Paul Studio that has the PCB in it. It has no coil taps or push/pull knobs of any kind. I want to Put a Phat Cat Silencer Hot in the bridge position, but I don't want to change out all of the wiring. Has anyone bought the quick connect ends and put it on a SD pickup? The Phat Cat pickup has less wires than the 4-wire Gibson pickups don't they? I want to be able to do this so I can switch it back and forth if I need to. Thanks.

I have never done it, but there are people here who have. Does your Studio have any push/pull pots, and if so, what do they do?

Yes. I've put various SD, Gibson and other pickups in a Quick connect guitar and vice versa. The connector is a standard computer connector - 5 pin micro molex,, 1.0mm spacing (I think - need to verify). Once you have the correct one you can get them real cheap on Amazon or other. You can get male and female. (female so i can use QC pickups in a standard guitar without clipping them off.) All QC is doing is grouping the normal pickup connections in one place. otherwise the connections go to the same place as normal wiring. What's important is identifying the right position for the connector. Gibson RWRP wires the bridge pickup in QC so the wires are reversed. Otherwise, it's the 4 standard wires with the 5th as bare ground. middle is always hot to the pickup. You can search the diagram. Note the colors of amazon connectors will be different (and of course Gibson and SD use different color conventions too), so pay attention to the wire position and function.

I've used Molex connectors to swap out loaded pickguards before. They only need to be 3 pin (hot, ground, bridge ground), and they are a great idea that really should be in every pickguard-equipped guitar.

There's little chance to happen but pickup manufacturers should all use EMG connectors.

I know that it's not difficult to learn to solder but I'm sure it is too much work (or whatever reason) for a bunch of people. Even me I'm stopped to try new pickups. I wanted to try a Slash 2.0 set and an Hayden Gates set on my Les Paul but I didn't want to ditch the full electronic (which works very well btw). $25 for Molex connectors/pins/shipping + $150 for the crimping tool that I will use 4-5 times.

But I swapped an EMG Fat 55 bridge for a Super 77 bridge in seconds in one of my guitar.

i am probably above average when it comes to soldering, but for a simple pup swap, it takes me much longer to take off the strings and physically swap the pup than to solder in it
