Phat Cat without the cover?

I'm not all that worried about shielding - has anybody used a Phat Cat without the cover? I don't know if the coil is taped or wrapped up well enough.

Thanks for the post.

It would work fine as long as you played guitar lying down on your back with the pickup facing the ceiling. As soon as you sit up, it's going to fall out of the guitar and into your lap.

How did you know that's how I get my tone? Now everybody's gonna start playing in a supine position . . .

Never having held one in my hands, I gather the Phat Cat cover and mounting system are one. Brilliant deduction, eh? Too bad, I'd like to have a black one.

I wonder if they could do the same process to the Phat Cat as they do to the Benedetto A6 cover? Maybe as a Custom Shop order.
