Does anybody has any clips using them? I have a humbucker equiped guitar that needs more clarity and sensivity touching. This could be the solution...

Thanks!!

Re: phat cats clips?

Mongrol, I know you have been waiting awhile for some phat cat clips. I have a hollowbody that I had a custom shop set of Phat cat like pu's wound for. The magnets and screws are different than the stock phat cats but at least you can get an idea as to what they are capable of. If clarity and sesitivity are what you want I think you would probably be very pleased.
The guitar was my PRS hollowbody II, the amp was my mesa boogie mkIIc+.
The first clip is just a little jazzy comp (mistake and all), fairly clean. THe second is with a little more overdrive. I have posted both of these before, my apologizes to you guys that have heard them before. I really must find time to do more.

Reconition, at last!! :laugh2: :laugh2:

Finally!!! Thank you very much, Al.C!! I liked very much the clips and I haven't listen to them yet. This pickups of yours are very nice, the sound its is focused and detiled. Allways tight, like the strings were more tensioned... What is really diferent it is the distorted sound (The Who, Live at Leeds, great tone!!!)

It is a common say that P90 are between Humbuckers and fender singles. I don't think this it is true, Theay just have their own sound.

One question, which magnet do you have in the P-90? Just to figure out how the sound will change respect to the stock P90...

EDIT: Spelling mistakes

The neck pu (which was used for both clips) has ceramic magnets in. This gives the pu more clarity and much more focused bass. The neck pu actually has one ceramic and one alnico 5. P-90 style pu's have 2 magnets incase you don't know. Two ceramics in the neck were too brittle for my liking, I'm not sure it is "acceptable" to mix magnets but mine sounds nice. Just the right amount of bite vs warmth. THe other difference my pu's have is that instead of pole screws mine have 1/4"" nonadjustable slugs. These give a tighter more focussed sound (IMO). Oh by the way both pu's have a resistance of just over 8 K. I'm not sure of the resistance of the stock Phat cat.
