You were going to do a Steve Clark style Les Paul weren't you? Did you ever get started on that? I'd love to see it if you did.
And if you and Northwinds ever do get a jam, pics of the two guitars in action would be nice! :1:

Re: Phil Collen Destroyer

I never got the cash to do it, but I should be getting cash soon.. I'm looking at an Orville Les PauLS tandard in tobacco burst like Steves early Les Paul, only it doesn't havr a flame top. But there is a Black beauty at a shop not far from where I go to school for 600, but these Orvilles/MIJ Epi's are very very tempting:bling:

I'm too short to be Steve though, I'm as tall as Phil is haha.

Re: Phil Collen Destroyer

Wow, each are different scale lengths too. I would love to find one of those one day. It would have to be the one with a Kahler and a 24.75 scale though.
There was one at Sunset Strip Pawn in Sioux Falls. It still might be there?

Was Steve a tall guy? I never realised, he always looks small to me, maybe cos he was so skinny. But he looked dwarfed by some of his guitars, like the Firebirds!

Nice guitar! I thought that Super 70's were A8 though?

Ooh Destroyers were lovely things.
Although technically the 155 and 555 didn't have the destroyer II moniker that was on Adrian smith's earlier set neck Candy Apple one.
There are some out there with set necks, block inlays and binding as well as single pickup bolt ons with non locking trem's, two pickup locking etc...
Oddly Ibanez went into a bit of a decline after these came out, every one wanted pointy headstock strats with floyds and Ibanez didn't really crack that market until the Jem, Sabre (now S), radius (more often than not just a JS these days and Power (RG) came along, and they still make those to this day.

I used to have what was essentially the Adrian Smith one, in candy apple, I sold it for a charvel for £100 back in '91, it's worth three times that now...ah well :)

Re: Phil Collen Destroyer

Found this thread and thought I would post a pic of my DT555.
I swapped out the bridge for a Kahler 7200 as well as refretted with stainless steel jumbo frets and took out the V2s and replaced with Dimarzio Super Distortions DP100 pups. I changed all three since the color match was pretty rough with the remaining V2s. This thing is a monster with monstrous tone! It's the only guitar I do not have SDs in though...
