Pick ONE Guitar

Re: Pick ONE Guitar

Voggin, your answer is pretty much identical to what I was going to say.

I've had my strat for a longer time, and it's got more sentimental value, but my 339 is the most versatile guitar I've ever played. I'd most likely pick the strat at the end of the day, but the 339 just does everything.

They really are great. Too bad Gibson jacked the price on these. They were a great buy when they came out. You can still get okay prices on them used, though. Mine's a 2010 that I got second hand.

Easy.
Mr. ES-335 signature.

But any 60's neck, flamey topped, block inlaid 335 would work.

If it's of the guitars I currently own, I'd say the ES335LE but the Carvin SH225 is definitely 1A.

Why? It's light, it's fast, it's warm and beefy, crisp, detailed, punchy and articulate. It's tremendously versatile. It can play literally any genre, except maybe C&W. It doesn't have a tremolo so it's not a diva in terms of setup and maintenance.

How come i never see you mention the star shaped one you built? You know the one with the mini abbo boomerang.

Probably my purple Charvel Style 2 2H. I'm getting a set of AHB-1 Blackouts put in it at the moment.

It's a vicious beast. The neck plays super fast - it's so so so smooth. The whole guitar just begs for facemelting legato lines and meaty death metal riffs. It sounds great, but it's just not super versatile at the moment. I love it dearly.

Re: Pick ONE Guitar

A guitar to me is like a Lay's potato chip - I can't have just one....

I'm lucky to have the good fortune to afford more than 1.

Re: Pick ONE Guitar

Probably the Jackson SL3. It's HSS, Floyd, and has a bunch of coil switching options.

Re: Pick ONE Guitar

Ugh, I can't pick just one... however, lets say the house is on fire and I have to grab as many guitars as I can before they burn.

The '82 Charvel goes first...

Re: Pick ONE Guitar

The Gibson 335 with a stellar set of pickups like the the rockabilly to metal humbucking Lollartrons would be #1, if I didn't choose a strat with Surfers.

My Gibson Cornell #4 is one killer guitar. I could spend the rest of my life making it the only one.

Re: Pick ONE Guitar

I remember you had talked about making that a bit more of an investment guitar. Was it just too good to relegate to that life?

Oh yeah and HNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG that guitar is beautiful. Classy, understated elegance.
