Pick ONE Guitar

Re: Pick ONE Guitar

If it's one I already own it would be this.

If a new axe it would have to be an acoustic but A LOT nicer.

Re: Pick ONE Guitar

This is a REALLY tough question. One that I've been asking myself hard lately as I have to thin my herd and Im trying to narrow things down to a very small few and even to one if things round home dont improve. I go back and forth so often. I'm blessed with a few axes that could easily be my number one and I could very easily be satisfied with as my only. (not that I want to have just one. haha)

If I had to pick just one, on most days I'd have said my US Charvel, but I recently rediscovered my Washburn MG130 and I'd have to go with that one. The neck is comfy like that Charvel (just no compound radius) , high quality Schaller floyd (just installed big brass block), mahog body and set neck (nice barking tone), and 24.75" scale, so it's sorta a super strat that plays like an LP.

battle tween this: (very close)

or this (would have to be this one)

or my blue one: ( Visually, I like this one better as its gorgeous and in better shape, but the black one was my first and I have that one modded)

Re: Pick ONE Guitar

Ugh, I can't pick just one... however, lets say the house is on fire and I have to grab as many guitars as I can before they burn.

That's probably the best way of asking this question: "The house is on fire; which guitar do you grab first?"

My factory Kahler (Gibson branded) equipped '81 Les Paul Studio. It was my first "good" guitar and was my H.S. graduation present from my mother back in '88. I'll have that guitar until I die.

That said, my '94 Strat Plus and '80 Firebrand would be tough to let go.

Do we get an acoustic as well? Or just "one" guitar?

Re: Pick ONE Guitar

I would say the Strat in my Avatar/profile pic. It's sounds pristine clean and handles as much overdrive as I will ever need.

Re: Pick ONE Guitar

My 1960 ES125T. Plays and sounds like a dream. Nearly flawless, museum quality.

Re: Pick ONE Guitar

My Ibanez art 300, It's a pretty good guitar, Ibbys actives aren't the best for cleans but they do. but on acoustic sims they sound extremely acoustic.

Re: Pick ONE Guitar

Only one. No more. That means just one. Not two, not three. Four is right out. If you're just going to complain about how you could never choose one, don't post. If you're going to post two or more guitars, don't post.

Pick ONE guitar that you would hypothetically use indefinitely. Why did you pick that one?

Gun-aginst-the-head . . .

. . . it will probably be this one :

Why ? . . . lets see :

* 335 shape withOUT f-holes
* black guitar w. gold hard ware
* varitone knob (335 tone to LP to Tele, well, kinda)
* separate out puts for neck and bridge pick ups

Re: Pick ONE Guitar

The Gibson 335 with a stellar set of pickups like the the rockabilly to metal humbucking Lollartrons would be #1, if I didn't choose a strat with Surfers.

My Gibson Cornell #4 is one killer guitar. I could spend the rest of my life making it the only one.

Bloody hell . . . that is sooo sexy !

Re: Pick ONE Guitar

My telecaster (mentioned earlier):

I've got a js moore in the neck, and man the thing sounds good. Wired with a tapped screw coil so it's 6.1k split and 7.2k in series, only thing is because of the cover it's really dark compared with the jd bridge. Seriously considering going to a 1 Meg/250k setup just so they'll balance a little better b/c I prefer a master tone control. Other than that though I couldn't be happier.

Re: Pick ONE Guitar

Pretty easy choice atually. American fat strat with a full size humbucker in the bridge. Floyd rose original bridge or callaham. Two single coils. All premium components. And that about does it!

Re: Pick ONE Guitar

I was going to post my telecaster, but that's realistically not my dream guitar. I'm still dialing it in a bit, but it has come a long way and yeah - she's going to be a keeper:

Other than its looks, it's got a really unique sound. The bridge has some twang, the middle sounds very acoustic-ish and the neck is pretty jazzy. I'm loving the hollowbody thing.
