i played a few in a store yesterday and liked them alot. i tried several lp type guitars. but these seemed the best. the body is thicker than a prs se. and the neck joint is alot better than an epi. you have alot better access to the upper frets. they had several different models. but i went with the tiger eye finish.

Tigerseye is one of the greatest colors for flame or curly maple. Zebras always look good on that finish! Congrats on the sweet ride.

Wow. Nice top, man. Cool curves on that one, too. I'm not familiar with Deans, so I've never seen that shape before; the carve is more "womanly" than your average LP type.

How's she sound?

+1 for the color, it rocks. Congrats!

Now why won't you tell us how the guitar rocks tone-wise?

Re: picked up a dean evo.

beautiful! I almost bought one acouple years ago but bought my SZ520 for way cheap instead. Those upper line EVOs feel and play great.

Nice looking EVO. HMMMMM. Guitar designed by Ben Chafin.

There are USA, Czech, and Korean made ones. I recently got a Gold Sparkle topped Korean made one that is P90 loaded. Great little guitar. Your have push/pull pots? I got a Trans Blue Korean one for nephew this Spring that ripped!. I liked that neck joint so much I had to get one then I found out about the Gold Sparkle P90 version and I had to have it.

TigerEye Quilt is a very cool finish. Your's looks great in shot number 2 as was mentioned earlier. :bigeyes2:

Re: picked up a dean evo.

thanks everyone. i wish my camera was better. the first pic makes it look darker than it is. and the second one makes it look lighter. its one of the korea made ones. it sounds good through the splawn. has more of the les paul sound than the prs se. it just needs a few minor tweaks. but other than that its good. it does have coil taps which i didnt even realize at the store. so far i have been able to dial in everything from clapton tone to metal. it seems to sound the best with the gain backed off some. but its a nice thick tone. i have some pickups that i want to put in it. so i will probably get rid of the coil taps. they sound good but i always prefered a real single coil to a tapped humbucker. the only big thing i am thinking about changing is putting a kahler trem on it. i have been wanting a singlecut set neck guitar with a trem.

Re: picked up a dean evo.

So many guitars out there better suited for all that. Seems a shame to gut and cut that one but it IS your guitar after all.

The quilt maple is pretty nice, but I guess I'm just old school when it comes to LP's. I just can't get used to a modified body & headstock. Although its not perfect, the original Gibson design is almost sacred to some of us. Call me old fashioned. But we don't want to all be playing the same kind of guitar.
