I'm rebuilding a late 80's Korean made Squier and ordered a "Fender" pickguard off ebay to fit my new HSS pickup config. The fit is close but off; the cutout for neck is too narrow (my neck is about 1/4" wider) and all the mounting holes are in the wrong place.
I could probably make it work but I'd have to grind down where it slides around the neck and re-drill for all the mounting holes. No big deal but I'd like to avoid this if I can. At least the thing was dirt cheap.
Question to the board, is my guitar so old (or so Korean) that a modern Fender pickguard replica isn't a sure fit? Or did I just get a bum pickguard?
