Pickup advice

Re: Pickup advice

Idoes it have black epoxy on the back?

Do you mean the pickup surround, or on the back of the pickup itself (hidden from view). If you mean the pickup surround, then yes, it's black. (Looks like plastic.)

Here's a photo (by the way, the radiator's always OFF!).

Re: Pickup advice

OK, focussing on my clean sound at our band's practise today, the bridge pickup is way too bright/trebly for my taste, neck pickup too bassy, particularly on the low strings.

From what I can gather the pickups in my guitar are probably T-Tops.

What pickups would rectify this?

And again I'd ask how easy is it to replace the pickups in a 335?

Cheers.

Post the guitar's serial number; that's the best way to know what they've put inside. Around that time, a friend of mine had a 335 just like the one in the photo; which it was NOT a great instrument. From what I remember, they should be some 8.0-9.0K A5 paf stuff very sterile sounding... if I was you, I'd put a Jazz set and roll off a little bit the tone control if ever you'll find it too trebly...

If you wanna a bit more rauch, so go fot the PG set.

If you wanna go higher output and modern sounding, so get my combo: a Jazz bridge in neck and a C 5 on bridge.
