hi, i have a epi korina explorer, i have trie a ducnan distorton in it and i found it to be really muddy, what pickup would suit it??

what duncan would suit it most and i heard EMGs are good in korina, is that true??

oh yea im going for a heavy metal tone. but i dont want a pickup that just fuzzes evrything, has to be nice for lighter rock and cleans aswell.

Full Shred or Scremin Demon. The Distortion was muddy??? Hmmmm. I always thought the DD was a little on the bright side of the fence.

I had an epi korina '58 flying v with a SH-5 Custom in the bridge, and it sounded great. not as much high end as the distortion PU, but a much more controlable sound. sounded good clean too, unlike my experiences with EMG's. hope this helps!

+1 on the Custom suggestion. A very versatile pickup, and not on the muddy side. Just make sure the pickup height is right. That can cause mud with any pickup.

Depending on what kind of pickup you use you might want to try different caps too. Maybe changing the caps would be the way to go first (certainly less expensive.)

Are the pots stock on your Epi? If so, get them out of there. :)

Install a set of CTS 500k pots and .022 Orange Drop caps. That should take care of the mud problem.

If you still want less low end and more clarity, why not try the 59 or Pearly Gates sets?

If your amp has enough gain, they can definatley do metal and hard rock. :burnout:
