Re: Pickup Match for my TB14
Hi freek; Welcome to the forum.
GearJoneser has a heckuva lot more experience with guitars and pups than I do, but whenever someone asks about an HSS configuration, I can't help but jump in with my current favorite. :laugh2:
Any of the following, in a "tapped" version, gives you a great match to the C5:
SSL-3 Hot
SSL-4/7 Quarter Pound
SSL-5/6 Custom
The difference between the 4/7 and 5/6 is just flat or staggered pole pieces.
Here's why I like them so much. If you get the tapped version, then a single push/pull pot will "tap" both the neck and middle pups. In the full-on position, the neck/middle is the predominant sound, with the C5 adding a "fill", or tone enhancement to the single. In the "Tapped" position, the C5 is the predominant sound, with the single providing the "fill".
Its a great combo of tones, with the addition of a simple switch.
I love it.

Edit: And . . . when you select neck & middle together, you have the tapped and full-on sounds to choose from. Great versatility.
