My friend just got a couple of EMG Select Jazz pickups for $20. His bass (Washburn subsidiary) is P-J, but he wants to rout out a spot closer to the neck to put the other Jazz pickup in. Normally I would have discouraged him from doing so, but the bass is really a POS anyway, so I don't feel bad about condemning it. Anyway, my question:
How should we go about finding a good spot to put the new pickup? Should we put it under a harmonic node, or not? Or are we just better off slapping it in there at random since the whole thing is pretty lame anyway?
