ya, i know i post alot about this but from all the info i got i need to narrow down whcih set of p-ups i will get. looking for a good clean sound from at least one p-up but a good distortion sound for all types of music in the other. any choices that i dont have listed please post as well

just in case some of you havent read my million other pickup posts[lol exageration]i play alot of stuff from nirvana to slash and gnr to 80's hair meatl to randy rhoads and classic rock.i also dont want them to be to bassy either

I am building an LP clone, and right now I'm leaning towards an Alnico 2 Pro in the neck and a Custom Custom in the bridge for that one. I want the A2P mainly for Slash-style lead tones (think Sweet Child 'o Mine), and the Custom Custom for a really huge chunky sound. I think that combo would work well for you too.

I voted for the custom bridge and the Jazz neck. I think a Pearly Gates in the neck would be a bit better though! They will both work fine but, I think the PG has a bit more mojo though!

I have little experience with other Duncans but man I love the Distortion/Jazz setup in the Jackson here. Its awsome. I love it.

Custom/A2pro is a great combo for classic and heavy rock.
For a better clean sound and more articulation in the bridge, go for the Seth Lover.

Everytime I get a chance to praise the distortion/jazz I do. I love it man, but like I said I have little experience with other pickups SD offers. But I do know that if you want to get close to that Randy Rhoads sound. High output distortion is where to go.

And I mean you can tell any of these guys here what sound your looking for, and they'll give you the best advice. They know what they're talking about, I wanted a RR sound, and I got it.

The tone control is where it is at, you can blend so much between the 2 pickups. With the tone totally down, its a very deep fat sounding distortion, and the higher you go with it, the more output you put in it, so it gets sharper.

Same way with the Jazz, in the RR3 its as versatile as the Distortion, mellow or bright it can acheive either.

If you want that Randy Rhoads sound, go for the Distortion/Jazz, if your wanting something else might want to take their advice.

I really like the '59 in the bridge, and the Pearly gates in the neck. I run them through separate outputs, through separate amps, and the sounds they get are awesome. Almost a quack type sound out of the '59, when played through my Fender, clean, and the Pearly gates, I keep pretty low, and run through one of the 5150's, and it's a more vintage-rock type growl to it.

While I've been using a JB/Jazz for years, I really think a '59 at the bridge is one of the best tones out there. Add to that a Jazz in the neck for really clean sounds, or another '59 for some warmer tones.

anyone have an idea on whcih bridge pickup would be best to get an eddie van halen like sound or something. ive narrowed my choices dwon to the distortion, jazz , '59' and jb. lol i just need to put together a combo

the only thing i fear about the distotion in the brigde is having too much gain. while randy is one of my favorite guys to leanr a song from, i also play punk rock like the ramones and sex pistols and dont want something that has tons of distortion even when my amp is on a low gain setting. other than that from all ive read i think a distortion/ jazz or jb/59 is the way im gonna go for my jacksons pickups
