Pickup recommendation for a Jackson V

Hi, a couple days ago I saw a friend I hadn't seen for quite some time.
We chatted a little and he told me he has a Jackson V (the symmetrical one, not the Rhoads) that has Duncan Designed pus and a Floyd.
From this I'm guessing he's talking about the X Series KVX10 King V. He said he paid 900€ in 2002 or so for it, about the price of a Schecter Hellraiser today.

He said he didn't like the neck pu, too much bass, I'm guessing it's the HB-102N, the DD Jazz, the description fits too.

I told him I'd ask at the SD forum for it but 90% people would suggest the Pearly Gates, Full Shred, Screamin' Demon and some flavor of the Custom or the PATB.
Truth is I really couldn't suggest one myself, although I'm guessing all of the above would be closer to what he'd like.
Probably the FS or SD but, I'd really like to hear what you think...

CheerS!

Erm.. guys, anyone?

Jackson King (flying) V, Alder body, Rock Maple neck, Rosewood fretboard, 22 frets (I found this real weird but that's what he said...)
Jazz at the neck too much bass.
Rock/Metal player.

Suggestions?

Re: Pickup recommendation for a Jackson V

I have a KVX10 string thru (no Floyd). I didn't care for the stock pickups either.
I think they were Duncan Designed 103 (Distortion) in both positions. I put EMG 81's in neck and bridge at 18v and love it. Great playing guitar. Thinest, flatest neck Jackson I have. Since this is a Duncan forum I'd also suggest the Duncan Blackouts as they sound very similar to the EMGs.

Re: Pickup recommendation for a Jackson V

A mom and pop shop near me had a Jackson V with a duncan 59 in the neck and a Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge. I got to play it through an Engle Thunder 50 and it sounded very sweet.

I know this thread was from 10 days ago but it could help
I have the Jenna Jameson one, also alder body, 24 frets, fixed bridge. I think your friend has an KV3 older model (22 frets alder). The specs of my guitar says HB-102 N and HB-103 B, but when I removed them to put a pair of SH-6 TB-6 Distortions I found they both were HB-103. It is funny when I read they are built after Distortions. No way. Half output, smaller, lightier, crap. I found the neck pickup too dark also compared with the bridge but the Distortions are perfectly balanced.
