Pickup replacement

I posted this in the other The Guitar Shop but I think it is more suited for the Pickup Lounge.

So, I am definitly getting the Epi G-310 in about a week or so and I have enough money to by a JB for the bridge at the same time. I want to learn to install the pickup on my own. I have done simple electronic work my freshman year of highschool on those little circuit boards that you sold the resisters and stuff and make the little LED light up, so I know how to solder decently. But what Equipment will I need for the soldering job? Roughly how much money will a Soldering Iron and the material cost and do you guys have any suggestions on any particular soldering iron? Also the G-310 has 2 volume 2 tone controls is this schematic the one I would use for the job? http://www.seymourduncan.com/websit...3way-w-spl.html
I also heard of the pots going bad after a while on Epis so I would like to replace those while I am already doing the Pickup replacement, which ones go well with a 59n JBb pickup combo? Also where could I buy the Pots?
THanks for replies in advance.

Re: Pickup replacement

Ah thank you Curly, I should of done search :smack: that thread is pretty good. But what about the Pots? and is that the Schematic I would use?

Re: Pickup replacement

the link didnt work for me to the schematic. i would use cts brand 500k audio taper pots with those pups in that guitar. the schematic you want is the normal gibson one, basically just match what you have in there now with new stuff

Re: Pickup replacement

Where could you buy the pots, do they sell them at music shops or do you have to shop online? :smack:
