Wouldn't a new nut destroy the buzz feiten system? I still have very little clue but, according to what I read, the nut is a part of the system.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. The Feiten tuning system is primarily some of the frets being slightly angled, but I think you're right...the nut is tempered.
You may not need to do anything but change the pickups, although I'm sure you can setup the action to your liking.
