Pickup suggestions for Fender Strat

Hi, I have Fender Deluxe Strat HSS (Rosewod) but I am dissatisfied with N3 noiseless pickups so I want to change mid and neck pickups but I can't decide between Seymour Duncan SSL-1, Fender Fat 50's, Fender Texas Special. I want to get the tone of David Gilmour and John Frusciante. Do you have any other suggestions? Also I want to covert my guitar to SSS. What do you think about it?

Welcome to the forum.

I share your dissatisfaction with the Fender Noiseless pickups. Right now, I am deriving a great deal of enjoyment from the SD STK-10 YJM Fury pickups for Stratocaster.

Re: Pickup suggestions for Fender Strat

I've tried a couple of guitars with noiseless pickups and also didn't get on with them. They seemed a bit sterile and lacked some vintage mojo.

I have two strats, a 57 reissue with Fender 57/62 pickups and a 2012 Standard with the Fat 50s. They are both the stock pickups and sound great so have no need to change them. The 57/62s are low output but have a warm vintage tone, and the Fat 50s are an all around great all purpose pickup with a vintage vibe. For the artists you have suggested you may want to try the Fat 50s, as they are vintage enough for Frusciante style funk, but have a bit more output than true vintage which would help with those Gilmour lead tones. And yes if you are after a Frusciante tone you'll want a single coil in the bridge position. Hope this helps.

Suhr V60LP or Lollar Blackface.
both are incredible.

Re: Pickup suggestions for Fender Strat

Looks like Fender has some new noiseless Strat pickups, they have split side by side coils, I don't know what guitars they are putting them in, but it seems to me that that would be better than the stacked-coil method. I would think they would be similar to the dual coil pickups that they used to put in the old Fender XII 12 string guitar, which looked sort of like the P-bass pickups, except in this case they fit in a regular Strat cutout:

I'd like to hear how these sound, most noiseless Strat pickups just don't do it for me.

I'd say Fender CS '69's or SSL-1's will get you in PF/RHCP territory. I converted my strat to SSS too and combined those pickups with a SSL-5 with coil tap. Full on for leads and tapped for a more authentic strat bridge tone.

Re: Pickup suggestions for Fender Strat

john has ssl1's in his main strat and they are very similar to a '63 strat pup so id say two of those or two ssl2's if you want flat poles.

Re: Pickup suggestions for Fender Strat

noisless option should be stk-s6, stk-s4, stk-s4

i have the stk-s7 in the bridge of a strat and its great but i think it wouldnt be a great tonal or output match for the stk-s6 in the bridge
