Pickup that sounds like this?

Re: Pickup that sounds like this?

Oops I just noticed my first link didn't work. Ok thanks, now I REALLY want a DD (it's been on my Christmas list for some time now)! :)

Re: Pickup that sounds like this?

Haha, I remember that clip, Davey has a JB(b) & 59(n) in an SG, so that is probably a JB.

Wow and from what I know the DD has a lot more output than the JB, yikes. Well it should be good then.

Re: Pickup that sounds like this?

wow.. i'm getting a fanbase :D

LOL, but thats just me on the vocals though =(. the backing track was done by our very own Nuntius, i do believe with his Gordon Smith Strat, tuned to umm.. D i think.

you dont like any other sounds ?? sacrifice perhaps? :blackeye:

the thing is.. you dont have to have a brewtal pickup to achieve that tone. a medium output will get you there too. the gear behind you (or in front of you) is essential. for recording purposes we both use the Line6 GuitarPort

You don't need a high output one, but you do need a ceramic magnet with a certain EQ spectrum.

Re: Pickup that sounds like this?

The pup is one that comes stock on Gordon Smith's, and the guitar was tuned in D with the low string dropped to a C.

*****Edit - Nope!

theboatcandream was right lol :smack:

It's a ceramic mag...

The gordon smith pup isn't that hot though, hotter than vintage but IMO not as hot as a JB.

All I know is that ceramic magnets have a characteristic sound to them.
oh, that is true, they got a bigger 'bite' if one can call it that. tighter even. but you really dont need a ceramic magnet for it

yes rapvenom, the DD has a HUGE ceramic magnet slapped on the bottom
