Pickup - wood combinations. Do they matter?

I was just talking to one of my friends about
the issue of cheap.and expensive gear

Most times the cheap gear gets the love
Because I dont want to mess up the expensive stuff

So the good gear hangs on the wall

While the $150 Amazon mutt gets all the play time

I hear you Clint
I really do
I feel the same way
But in practice, i do things a bit differently
i didn't intend to

But today I realized i do

I love cheap gear and tinkering with it

Hello my name is EHD and i have a problem

Huh. I'm different. The good stuff is #1, I got it to play. The cheap stuff is backups. Nothing is a wall hanger, nothing gets babied.

it reminds me the never ending issue on capacitors, people argues about exotic types pretending to hear big differences and they are not able to hear difference in values of the same type, which is a way greater parameter over construction type, at least in low frequency....

Perhaps you guys are overthinking this (and over arguing this).

Eg: If you have a guitar with a cheap low output Chinese pup in it and change it for Duncan Custom or Distortion, or Pegasus, or....., you'll hear a very noticeable difference. If you have a guitar with a good pup in it but change the neck, it essentially sounds the same.

Thus, pup made a big difference, neck didn't make a difference.

That's it in a nutshell.
