Re: Pickups and digital modelling amps...
I replaced both pickups on my Agile...and here is what I found.
I run a Behringer V-Amp Pro through the loop return of an old Peavey Studio Pro 112. I can really get a great variety of tones with this rig. I also used to run a Tech-21 TM-60 in stereo with this setup and it added even more depth.
I put a Jazz in the neck of the Agile and a hybrid '59/Custom in the bridge. For distorted tones, both of these pickups were a nice improvement. However, I simply cannot get a clean tone that I am happy with using the Jazz in the neck. My usual clean setup, using the Blackface Twin model which can be very warm, simply can't be made to work. Even with the gain all the way down and the volume down, it clips..which is very odd for this model which usually has a ton of headroom.
So, the Jazz is up for trade. It just didn't work as an all arounder with my modeling setup.
