pickups installed correctly? plz help

i have a torino tr-1 guitar. 2 tone and 2 volume knobs.
anyways i took it to get a duncan distortion(bridge) installed(20$).
it works and everything but..
i opened it today and compared the wiring to the diagram on the paper and its a bit diffrent. :smack:

1.he soldered the white and red together
2. soldered the green to the little thing by the knob i think its called the ground.

but the things im not sure that he did right are the bare and black one. the black wire is hooked up to the knob directly. and seems he didnt connect the bare wire.
am i missing something here?:\ :|

Welcome to the forum. It sounds like he did it all correct except for leaving the bare wire off. It should go to the same place as the green wire, as per this diagram: (Ignore the switch with the red and white wires.)

The bare wire isn't essential for proper operation, but may help to reduce noise. If you don't have a hum problem, its not a big deal, but I'd still ask him to connect it.

That sounds right. Most of the time black is ground, but in the case of duncans its hot. The bare wire is the sheild, green is ground. Red and white are the coil tap leads.

So, bare and green go to ground, red and white are soldered together and taped off, and black goes to either the switch or its volume pot.
